Majestic Oak is the place to bring Dad to celebrate his special day. Whether Dad wants to relax under the oak trees or spend a weekend on the water, our resort makes a great base to explore the area.

Father’s Day weekend is a great time for fishing at Goose Island State Park ! Cast your rod and reel from your own boat or from along the shore. But make sure to also test out the park’s spectacular fishing pier which provides 1,620 feet of prime space. A fishing license won’t be necessary if you’re fishing from shore or the pier. New to fishing and need some advice? Check out this handy guide full of tips for taking advantage of what Goose Island has to offer. The park offers a Tackle Loaner Program if you’re short on supplies and even a cleaning station to prepare your catch. Swimming isn’t an option, but you’re sure to find plenty to do there for the whole family.

When you’ve worked up an appetite, be sure to stop by the monthly Rockport Market Days on Saturday, July 17 between 9 and 4. Eat your way through the food court, and enjoy bay views while you browse booths full of local art, jewelry, crafts, and other merchandise. Make sure you take home some local, canned products like jams and salsa.

If Dad is more of an indoor explorer, take advantage of the Art Museum of South Texas ’ event, Father’s Day Dollar Day. On Sunday, July 18, from 1-5 p.m., enjoy discounted admission of only $1. Current exhibits include, among others, Julian Onderdonk’s Texas landscape paintings, the art of graphic novels (closes June 25), and the Outwin American Portraiture collection, the only exhibition of the works in the Southwest.

At Majestic Oak, we know our guests love our reasonable rates and the amenities we offer. But want you to think of us as more than just the place you stay to explore the Rockport area. That’s why we’re improving the resort by adding lots of extras for you to enjoy on your next visit!

Planning fun events is a great way for us to celebrate our guests and maintain a connection with the community. We just hosted the Grill’n and Chill’n event that brought well over 150 people to the resort throughout the day. We served hot dogs and burgers with all the fixings, drinks, and desert for $2, and we raffled off a cooler for our guests to host their own picnic while exploring the area. Expect more events like this one throughout the year on our beautiful grounds!

Events aren’t the only way we’re working to make Majestic Oak your preferred destination. We’re making improvements, large and small, to the resort to insure a great experience while you’re visiting us. Our brand new, professionally-installed pool table and our lighted fountain and viewing area at the pond are two ways we’ve upgraded our amenities to keep our guests entertained. We’re also installing a workout room that will features weights, cardio, and an infrared sauna. It will be ready mid-July.

But with all the upgrades and changes going on, we’re most excited about our brand new, saltwater pool. We had to push back construction a bit, so it won’t be completed until the end of August, but it will be worth the wait! It’s tucked under the oak trees so guests will have a good mix of sun and shade, and heated water means the pool and therapy jacuzzi will be open year-round. Safety gates will make sure to protect the kiddos visiting with you.

Experience All Majestic Oak Has to Offer!

Whether it’s your first visit or you’re a repeat guest, we look forward to seeing you! Our website, https://www.majesticoakresort.com/ , has all the information you need to plan your visit, but you can always reach us at 361-727-0034 or via email at info@majesticoakresort.com .

If you’re in need of some serious relaxation on your next vacation, we have you covered at Majestic Oak! Our resort is the perfect place to sit in the shade with a good book. But if you crave something more active, we’re the ideal base for some of the area’s best hiking, biking, and kayaking.

A great place to start planning your excursions is http://aransaspathways.com/ . There you’ll find descriptions and maps of different routes, labeled by difficulty level. The site also details points of interest if you want to get in some sightseeing along the way.

If you’re an experienced cyclist, you might want to try the Aransas County Grand Tour, a challenging route of 40 miles that passes through the cities of Aransas Pass, Fulton, and Rockport. You’ll experience the scenic areas of Fulton Beach Road and Water Street, the Conn Brown Harbor, the historic center of Rockport, and more. To view the route and for more information, visit: http://aransaspathways.com/aransas-county-grand-tour-route/

Casual hikers and bikers will want to check out the Tule Creek Hike and Bike Trail, a 10-foot-wide concrete path that runs 1.08 miles through Live Oak Forest. At Majestic Oak, we want to show everyone just how special the Rockport area is. In addition to all the activities the area has to offer, there are a number of places to learn more about your “home-away-from-home.” You’ll be feeling like a local in no time!

A great place to start is the Aquarium at Rockport Harbor. Get to know the area bays and estuaries through hands-on exhibits and tanks full of local marine life. The Aquarium boasts 22 tanks filled with 6,000 gallons of salt-water, and it features a large sampling of species found in the area. In addition to the Aquarium’s exhibits, the Bay Education Center hosts a number of programs that will interest both adults and children. Attend a scheduled lecture, watch a documentary, or bring the kids to a summer movie night. There are even special classes during the summer to keep the kids entertained (although these require advance registration.) Admission is free for most activities, and you can find out more information on their website at http://www.rockportaquarium.com/ .

A trip to the History Center for Aransas County is sure to give you inside info even some locals don’t know! The Center features indoor and outdoor exhibits that showcase the inhabitants of Aransas County over the years and their unique heritage. Through July 16, the Center is hosting an exhibit, “Texas Settlers & Their Buildings: Old Rockport” which features homes from 1860-1930. The exhibit focuses on how the architecture of the time reflected the daily lives of Rockport’s citizens. You can learn more about the mission of the center and its exhibits at http://www.aransashistorycenter.org/ .

Rockport-Fulton is a paradise for bird watchers. There are opportunities year-round to enjoy the hundreds of species that call the area home, and Majestic Oak makes a fantastic base to do so.

The area hosts ten birding sites listed on the Great Texas Birding Trail, both coastal and inland. Each season brings different species. In the spring, migrating birds are attracted to the Coastal Bend’s varied habitats. During the summer months, the barrier islands are home to nesting birds, which can be seen from local boat tours. Fall brings raptors and shorebirds, and hummingbirds entertain homeowners who prepare feeders in their yards. Even winter has its own birding charm, with both resident birds and lingering migrators. You can plan a trip along the Great Texas Birding Trail by checking out the information at http://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/wildlife/wildlife-trails/ctc .

A great place in the area to enjoy world class bird watching is Fennessey Ranch, with over 4,000 acres of varied habitats, including wetlands, natural lakes, and riparian brush. The ranch’s borders serve to “trap” different species, making it a sanctuary for bird-lovers. Customized tours are available, and you can get more information at http://fennesseyranch.com .

Wildlife conservation has long been a focus of residents of the Coastal Bend. The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is a federally protected park located in our area that hosts migratory birds, as well as other wildlife, on over 100,000 acres of grasslands, wetlands, and marshes. From October- March, the refuge hosts an abundance of whooping cranes and provides updates via its website on these winter Texans. It’s hard to believe that in 1941 only fifteen of these incredible birds survived in the wild. You can learn more about whooping cranes and get information on the refuge at https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Aransas/ .

Many companies in the area offer tours and educational opportunities along the coast and inland. To find the perfect tour for you, browse a list of companies at https://www.go-texas.com/Central-Coast/Bird-watching/ #

Majestic Oak Resort looks forward to welcoming you, no matter the season, whether for bird watching or other activities. Our website, https://www.majesticoakresort.com/ , has all the information you need to book your visit, but you can always reach us at 361-727-0034 or via email at info@majesticoakresort.com .

Majestic Oak is a natural base to explore the beaches of the area, and boy do we have some fantastic ones! Whether you want to build sandcastles, have a picnic, or ride the waves, you’ll find your perfect spot in the area. Rockport Beach, just down the road from us, is a great place to start!

Rockport Beach isn’t just pretty, it’s safe as well. It’s the only Blue Wave certified beach in Texas, a designation that means the beach is maintained with a focus on keeping beachgoers and the environment healthy. The water is tested to make sure it’s swimmable, the beaches are kept free of litter, public restrooms are available, and accommodations have been made to make the beach accessible to all. To learn more about Blue Wave certification and what it stands for, click here: http://www.cleanbeaches.com/beaches.html .

While you’re at the beach, let the kids play on one of the beachfront playgrounds, while you prepare something great for lunch! Rockport Beach has 65 picnic areas with covered picnic tables and grills for your use. If you’re a fisherman or woman, you can even catch your lunch and have it on the table in no time! An 800-foot-long pier on the North side of the beach is a popular spot for fishing here. Then walk off your lunch while enjoying a gorgeous view along the shores of Little Bay or take advantage of the water ski loop or volleyball courts to get your heart rate up.

It’s important to note that pets of any kind are not allowed on Rockport Beach. Glass containers are also prohibited. Access to the beach is free, but you will need a daily or annual beach parking pass, which you can find at many local stores. To learn more about Rockport Beach, check out http://www.rockportbeach-texas.com/ .
